KolorPearl Chameleon - Blue, Blue Chameleon Glitter 100 grams, 200 microns = 0.2 mm

    Parameters:

    • Size: 200 microns – 0.2 mm
    • Color without sun: blue
    • Visible colors in the sun: light blue, dark blue
    • Standard mixing: 25 g/1 l clear coat/clear base
    • Weight: 100 grams/package

Pearl pigments are mixed with clear coat or transparent base. They can be sprayed in multiple layers. A longer flash-off time is needed between individual layers. As a base coat for the pearl pigments, a color in the same shade is usually used, but it's not a rule. You can view the photo gallery here.

    Preparation and Spraying Process:

The application process for chameleon pearl pigments involves mixing them with a clear base and then applying this mixture over a solid base color. Spray in thin, even layers using a spray gun with a recommended nozzle size of 0.8 – 1.7 mm (depending on the pearl pigment size). After achieving the desired coverage and letting the layers cure, the surface is protected with additional layers of clear coat to create a deep, glossy, and shimmering effect. Proper surface preparation and a consistent spraying technique are essential for a successful and even application.

    1. Surface Preparation:

    • Sand the base coat – substrate: For a new application, first apply a primer or base coat. If you are spraying over an already painted surface, roughen it with sandpaper with a grit of 240 so that the new layer with pearl pigments adheres better.
    • Clean the surface: Before applying any paint, make sure the surface is clean and dust-free. Degrease it with a silicone remover.

    2. Mix the Paint and Pearl Pigments:

    • Mix the components: In a container or a disposable cup, mix the pearl pigments with a clear base or clear coat. Follow the specific instructions provided in the clear base or clear coat technical data sheet, as the ratio of pearl pigments may vary.
    • Add a thinner or hardener: After mixing the pearl pigments with the clear base, add a thinner in the required ratio. After mixing with the clear coat, add a hardener and thinner in the required ratio to achieve the correct consistency for the spray gun.
Ensure even distribution: Mix the blend thoroughly to ensure the pearl pigments are evenly dispersed throughout the volume.

    3. Spraying the Pearl Pigment Layer:

    • Use the right equipment: A spray gun with a suitable nozzle size is needed (0.8 – 1.7 mm, depending on the pearl pigment size).
    • Layer application: We recommend doing test sprays before the first direct application. When applying directly, spray thin, evenly overlapping layers. The first layer may provide only partial coverage. Use 3 to 7 layers, depending on the desired final effect. Follow the flash-off times between layers according to the instructions in the technical data sheet.
    • Shake the gun while spraying: Shake the spray gun or paint cup regularly to prevent the pearl pigments from settling at the bottom.
    • Complete the finish: Continue applying layers until you achieve the desired coverage and effect. This will create the depth and gloss of the final finish.

    4. Finishing the Process:

    • Drying the paint: Allow the paint to dry for a sufficient amount of time.
    • Apply a final clear coat: Once the pearl pigments have dried to the desired level for clear coat application, apply one or more clear coats to protect against wear and enhance the gloss.

    Tips and Maintenance:

    • Regular stirring: Before each spraying session, stir the mixture thoroughly to prevent the pigments from settling at the bottom of the container.

    • Substrate: For the best effect, use a base coat in a similar shade as the substrate.

    • Spraying: Never allow the paint with pearl pigments to dry completely before applying the next layer, as it may peel off later. Follow the instructions in the clear base and clear coat technical data sheets and their flash-off times. The paint with pearl pigments must not be wet, but it must be dry to the touch and tacky enough to apply the next layer.
