1. Surface Preparation:

• Sand the base coat/primer: For a new application, first apply a primer or base coat. If you are spraying onto a previously painted surface, sand it with 240-grit sandpaper to help the new pearl flake layer adhere better.
• Clean the surface: Before applying any paint, make sure the surface is clean and free of dust. Degrease it with an anti-silicone product.

2. Mixing the Color and Pearl:

• Mix the components: In a container or disposable cup, mix the pearl flakes with a clear base or clear coat. Follow the specific instructions in the clear base or clear coat's technical data sheet, as the ratio of pearl flakes may vary.
• Add thinner or hardener: After mixing the pearl flakes with the clear base, add thinner in the recommended ratio. After mixing with clear coat, add hardener and thinner in the recommended ratio to achieve the correct consistency for the spray gun.
  Ensure even distribution: Stir the mixture thoroughly to disperse the pearl flakes evenly throughout.

3. Spraying the Pearl Flake Layer:

• Use the right equipment: A spray gun with a suitable nozzle size (0.8–1.7 mm depending on the pearl flake size) is required.
• Layered application: We recommend doing test sprays before the first application. For the direct application, apply thin, evenly overlapping coats. The first coat may only provide partial coverage. Apply 3 to 7 coats, depending on the desired final effect. Follow the flash-off times between coats as instructed in the technical data sheet.
• Shake the gun while spraying: Shake the spray gun or paint cup regularly to prevent the pearl flakes from settling at the bottom.
• Complete the finish: Continue applying layers until you achieve the desired coverage and effect. This will create depth and shine in the final finish.

4. Finishing the Process:

• Allow the paint to dry: Let the paint dry for a sufficient amount of time.
• Apply a final clear coat: Once the pearl flakes have dried to the level required for clear coat application, apply one or more clear coats to protect against wear and enhance the shine.

Tips and Maintenance:

• Regular stirring: Before each spraying session, stir the mixture thoroughly to prevent the flakes from settling at the bottom of the container.

• Base coat: For the best effect, use a base coat in a similar shade.

• Spraying: Never let the pearl flake paint fully dry before applying the next coat, otherwise it could peel later. Follow the instructions in the technical data sheet for the clear base and clear coat, including flash-off times. The pearl flake paint must not be wet, but it must be dry enough to be very tacky so the next layer can be applied.
