    KolorPearl Chameleon - Green, 100 grams, 200 micro = 0.2 mm

    Parameters:

    • Size: 200 microns – 0.2 mm
    • Color without sun: green
    • Visible colors in the sun: light green, dark green
    • Standard mixing: 25 g/1 L clear coat/clear base
    • Weight: 100 grams/package

Pearlescent grains are mixed with clear coat or transparent base. They can be sprayed in multiple layers. A longer flash-off time is needed between each layer. A paint with a similar shade is usually used as a base coat for the pearlescent grain, but it's not a rule. You can view the photo gallery here.

    Preparation and Spraying Process:

The process of applying chameleon pearlescent grains involves mixing them with a clear base and then applying this mixture onto a base coat color. Spray in thin, even layers using a spray gun with a recommended nozzle size of 0.8 – 1.7 mm (depending on the size of the pearlescent grain). After achieving the desired coverage and the layers have cured, the surface is protected with additional layers of clear coat to create a deep, glossy, and shimmering effect. Proper surface preparation and a consistent spraying technique are essential for a successful and even application.

    1. Surface Preparation:

    • Sand the base coat – substrate: For a new application, first apply a primer or base color. If you are spraying on a previously painted surface, roughen it with sandpaper of 240 grit so that the new layer with the pearlescent grains adheres better.
    • Clean the surface: Before applying any paint, make sure the surface is clean and free of dust. Degrease it with an anti-silicone product.

    2. Mix the Paint and Pearl:

    • Mix the components: In a container or disposable cup, mix the pearlescent grains with a clear base or clear coat. Follow the specific instructions in the technical data sheet of the clear base or clear coat, as the ratio of pearlescent grains may vary.
    • Add reducer or hardener: After mixing the pearlescent grains with the clear base, add a reducer in the desired ratio. After mixing with a clear coat, add a hardener and reducer in the required ratio to achieve the correct consistency for the spray gun.
Ensure even distribution: Stir the mixture thoroughly to uniformly disperse the pearlescent grains throughout the volume.

    3. Spraying the Pearlescent Layer:

    • Use the right equipment: A spray gun with a suitable nozzle size is required (0.8 – 1.7 mm depending on the size of the pearlescent grain).
    • Apply in layers: Before the first spray, we recommend doing test sprays. For direct application, apply thin, evenly overlapping layers. The first layer may provide only partial coverage. Use 3 to 7 layers, depending on the desired final effect. Observe the flash-off time between layers according to the instructions in the technical data sheet.
    • Shake the gun during spraying: Regularly shake the spray gun or paint container so that the pearlescent grains do not settle at the bottom.
    • Complete the finish: Continue applying layers until you achieve the desired coverage and effect. This creates the depth and shine of the final finish.

    4. Finishing the Process:

    • Paint drying: Allow the paint to dry for a sufficient amount of time.
    • Apply a final clear coat: Once the pearlescent grains have dried to the desired level for clear coat application, apply one or more clear layers of clear coat to protect against wear and enhance the shine.

    Tips and Maintenance:

    • Regular stirring: Before each spraying session, stir the mixture thoroughly so that the grains do not settle at the bottom of the container.

    • Base Coat: For the best effect, use a base color in a similar shade as the base coat.

    • Spraying: Never let the pearlescent paint dry completely before applying the next layer, otherwise, it may peel later. Follow the instructions in the technical data sheet for the clear base and clear coat and their flash-off times. The pearlescent paint must not be wet, but must be dried and strongly tacky so that the next layer can be applied.
