    KolorPearl Chameleon - Orange, 100 grams, 400 micron = 0.4 mm

    Parameters:

    • Size: 400 microns – 0.4 mm
    • Color without sun: orange
    • Visible colors in the sun: light orange, dark orange
    • Standard mixing: 25 g/1 L of clear coat/clear base
    • Weight: 100 grams/package

The pearl grains are mixed with a clear coat or a transparent base. It's possible to spray them in multiple layers. You need to allow a longer flash-off time between individual layers. A color in the same shade is usually used as a base coat under the pearl grain, but this is not a rule. You can view the photo gallery here.

    Preparation and Spraying Process:

The application process for chameleon pearl grains involves mixing them with a clear base and then applying this mixture onto the base coat color. Spray in thin, even layers using a spray gun with a recommended nozzle size of 0.8 – 1.7 mm (depending on the pearl grain size). After the desired coverage is achieved and the layers have cured, the surface is protected with additional layers of clear coat to create a deep, glossy, and shimmering effect. Proper surface preparation and consistent spraying technique are essential for a successful and even application.

    1. Surface Preparation:

    • Sand the primer – base coat: For a new application, first apply a primer or base color. If you are spraying on an already painted surface, roughen it with 240-grit sandpaper so that the new layer with pearl grains adheres better.
    • Clean the surface: Before applying any paint, make sure the surface is clean and dust-free. Degrease it with a silicone remover.

    2. Mix the Paint and Pearl:

    • Mix the components: In a container or a disposable cup, mix the pearl grains with a clear base or clear coat. Follow the specific instructions in the clear base or clear coat technical data sheet, as the ratio of pearl grains may vary.
    • Add thinner or hardener: After mixing the pearl grains with a clear base, add a thinner in the required ratio. After mixing with a clear coat, add hardener and thinner in the required ratio to achieve the correct consistency for the spray gun.
Ensure even distribution: Mix the mixture thoroughly to disperse the pearl grains evenly throughout the volume.

    3. Spraying the Pearl Grain Layer:

    • Use the right equipment: A spray gun with a suitable nozzle size is required (0.8 – 1.7 mm depending on the pearl grain size).
    • Layered application: Before the first spray, we recommend doing test sprays. For direct application, apply thin, evenly overlapping layers. The first layer may provide only partial coverage. Use 3 to 7 layers, depending on the desired final effect. Follow the flash-off times between layers according to the instructions in the technical data sheet.
    • Shake the gun while spraying: Regularly shake the spray gun or paint container so that the pearl grains do not settle at the bottom.
    • Complete the finish: Continue applying layers until you achieve the desired coverage and effect. This creates the depth and gloss of the final finish.

    4. Completing the Process:

    • Drying the paint: Allow the paint to dry for a sufficient amount of time.
    • Apply the final clear coat: When the pearl grains have dried to the required level for clear coat application, apply one or more clear coat layers to protect against wear and enhance the gloss.

    Tips and Maintenance:

    • Regular mixing: Before each spray, mix the mixture thoroughly so that the grains do not settle at the bottom of the container.

    • Base coat: For the best effect, use a base color in a similar shade as the base coat.

    • Spraying: Never allow the paint with pearl grains to completely dry before applying the next layer, as it could peel later. Follow the instructions in the clear base and clear coat technical data sheet and their flash-off times. The paint with pearl grains must not be wet, but it must be dry enough and strongly tacky so that the next layer can be applied.
